When we talk about getting in shape and working out, We tend to ignore what kind of shape they’re starting with, as well as, what shape we want to get into. So let’s think about this stuff.

Identify Your Body Type

This should be easy. All it takes is a little honesty with yourself. This first step is super important for your goal setting. Naming what kind of build you’re starting with will determine everything else. If you’re a big guy with a lot of fat, it will be really difficult to become a long distance runner. It is possible! But, it’s going to (literally) be a long road. You’ll be doing an insane amount of cardio. On top of that, you won’t even be able to start with running because of the extra pressure on your knees. If you’re a lanky guy, who can count his ribs, you’re going to have to work really hard to be a bodybuilder type. That is going to require you to lift heavy weights for a few reps each time. You’re going to have to load up on protein. You’ll probably have to add dietary supplements too (they’re not cheap).

Set a Goal

I want to encourage everyone reading this. If you have an idea of how you want to look, awesome! Just be aware of the kind of work you’re going to have to put in to get to your goal. Different starting body type can achieve different looks more easily than others. Do you want to lose weight? Cool, focus on cardio and bodyweight exercises like pushups, tricep dips, and squats. Do you want to gain weight? You’re going to have to eat a lot more than you’re use to, especially since you’re burning calories when you work out. I also want to stress the importance of realism.

Realistic Goals

If your goal is to look like an Avenger, stop. Stop that thinking right now. Those men and women literally are paid to stay in shape. They have nutritionists, personal trainers, and often in home gyms. They have access to the freshest food, the best supplements, and all the time in the world. If you chase that goal you will probably disappoint yourself. Another way to avoid disappointment is to realize that everything takes time. Results are not instant, but progress happens everyday.

Just to recap:

-Name your body type without shame

-Set a goal and recognize the path it will take to get there

-Be realistic with your goals or else you will be chasing the dragon

That’s all I’ve got for this one. Remember to share, and subscribe if you found this post useful or interesting. As always, eat right bro.
